Void-of-course Moon

Void-of-course Moon

The Moon has made the last aspect available in the sign it occupies, and until it crosses into the next sign it runs "void of course". The classical rule says nothing will come of what you begin now — not a bad time, simply an unproductive one. It can last from a few minutes to a full day, and it happens thirteen or fourteen times a month.

Recommended

  • Carry on with what is already running — continuation is not affected
  • Routine tasks, tidying, paperwork, rest
  • Postpone the decision until after the ingress, if it can wait

Avoid

  • Do not sign contracts or launch new ventures
  • Do not make a major purchase
  • Do not expect a real answer to what you ask now

Practical guide

Planting and gardening

Moon gardening watches two things. The SIGN decides whether it is a fruitful day — water signs are best — while the PHASE decides what is worth planting: above-ground crops on a waxing Moon, roots on a waning one. Every day in the calendar states which case applies.

Recommended

  • Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces: the best planting days
  • Taurus and Capricorn: excellent for root vegetables
  • On a waning Moon: carrots, potatoes, onions, radishes

Avoid

  • Aries, Leo, Sagittarius: fire signs, barren for planting
  • Gemini, Aquarius and Virgo are barren too — these are the days for weeding and pruning

Haircuts

The oldest moon-calendar custom, and it rests on one simple rule: cut on a waxing Moon and it grows back faster, on a waning Moon slower. There are no good and bad days here — what matters is what you are after.

Recommended

  • Waxing Moon: if you want longer hair
  • Waning Moon: if you want fewer trips to the salon
  • Moon in Leo: tradition promises a fuller result

Avoid

  • Void-of-course Moon: tradition says you will not get what you asked for
  • Do not expect miracles — the moon calendar is no substitute for a good stylist

Decisions and contracts

One concept matters here: the void-of-course Moon. The classical rule says whatever you begin then simply stalls — neither good nor bad, it just comes to nothing. On other days the phase gives direction: a waxing Moon is for starting, a waning one for closing.

Recommended

  • Waxing Moon: launch, ask, offer, apply
  • Waning Moon: close, resign, sell, simplify
  • Check the void-of-course hours before you schedule a meeting

Avoid

  • Do not sign or launch while the Moon is void of course
  • Do not postpone the decision when postponing is the worse decision
