Major Arcana
The Hierophant
The Hierophant is a Major Arcana card of the tarot deck. Its keywords are: Tradition, Teaching, Faith, Conformity. Read below what it says upright and reversed.
- Tradition
- Teaching
- Faith
- Conformity
What does The Hierophant mean upright?
Tradition, learning and shared values offer guidance now. There is wisdom in the tried and tested path, and a teacher or mentor may appear to show it to you. Look to established knowledge, to community, to the rituals that have carried others before you. The Hierophant reminds you that you need not invent everything from scratch.
What does The Hierophant mean reversed?
Rebellion against convention, or blind adherence to it, is at work. The rules you inherited may no longer fit the person you have become. Question what you were taught and keep only what still rings true. Your own path may lead outside the well-worn track.
